The R. J. Reynolds High School jazz ensemble, "The Collective Elephant," is hosting their fifth annual outdoor jazz-festival fundraiser, Jazz on the Porch. The show features The Collective Elephant along with jazz groups from other area high schools. The band has commissioned a piece that they will premiere at Jazz on the Porch. Bryan Kidd, retired Chief Composer and Arranger for the US Navy Band in Washington, D.C., wrote--and will be on hand to direct--"Back Porch Blues." Bring a picnic supper and lawn chair and enjoy a relaxing evening of hot jazz in the cool shade of the Reynolds porch. Drinks, baked goods and RJR Band T-shirts will be available for sale. In case of rain, the festival moves inside.
