Dear Friends,

Cornell University Library's (CUL) Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections (RMC) recently acquired the HIP HOP COLLECTION which celebrates the first decade of the music, the movement, and the people. To learn more about the contents of the collection pick up a copy of
BORN IN THE BRONX: A VISUAL RECORD OF THE EARLY DAYS OF HIP HOP. All of the images in the book and much more are located at the CUL RMC.
Since late January CUL staff, students, faculty, and Ithaca community members have been planning a
fall HIP HOP CONFERENCE to celebrate the arrival of the collection and its importance to changing the
scholarly discourse on the genre, the culture, and the movement.
Join us online at my blog http://hiphopintellectual.blogspot.com as we discuss how the planning process is going. Contribute your thoughts, ideas, and concerns. But most importantly,
SAVE THE DATES - October 31 & November 1.
Confirmed speakers/guests include: Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Caz, and Joe Conzo
Many more are in the works.

One Luv,
Ira
