Saturday, August 23rd

Meet at the carpool lot at the base of Big Cottonwood Canyon at 6 pm.

We will drive up to the Donut Falls trailhead at about 6:15 and start on the trail roughly at 6:30 or so.

We'll be hiking to Donut Falls to catch the sunset light and to allow for some good low-light / long exposures of the falls.

You'll probably want to bring along:
Water
Bug spray
A flashlight
A tripod

I'll try to find some models if anyone wants to try some lighting techniques at the falls. The round trip will be about 2 hours, it takes roughly 30 minutes to hike the trail. The trail itself is a pretty easy hike of 1.5 miles round trip with an elevation gain of only 420 feet. The trail is well-maintained and is suitable for all ages. Sunset on 8-23 is around 8:15 pm, but we will try to be back down to the trail head before it gets too dark.

Following the hike, we will be meeting for a post-hike party at the Porcupine Grill around 9-ish. If you plan on coming to this, *please* RSVP so I know how many to tell them to plan for.

The Porcupine Grill is located just west of the 7-11 at the base of Big Cottonwood Canyon.
