Richard Farnsworth, Sissy Spacek and Harry Dean Stanton star in the 1990 film The Straight Story. Director David Lynch delivers a lyrical portrait of one man's real journey across America's heartland. Filmed along the 260-mile route that the actual Alvin Straight (Richard Farnsworth) traversed in 1994 from Iowa to Wisconsin, The Straight Story chronicles a man's patient odyssey and those he meets along the way.
