Welcome to the New Normal: The Age of the Portfolio Career
Saturday September 11, 2010 at 1:00pm
The Clarus Center - Community Room
28379 Davis Parkway, Suite 801
Warrenville, Illinois 60555-3032 Get Directions
Currently, 26% of US workers are independent contractors.

That number is expected to reach 40% within 8 years.

Ten years ago, there were already 30 million "free agents" in this country, so the trend was well underway before 2008. But the Great Recession has accelerated the growth of this segment of the workforce.

Attend this workshop to:

-- Hear more about the demand for contract and contingency staff
-- Learn from the experiences of people who left 'permanent full-time' to succeed as freelancers
-- Evaluate the suitability of this career option for your occupation(s), lifestyle and personality
-- Outline a business plan (appraise the how) of starting "Me, Inc."

Facilitator Tony Asta is currently an independent contractor in information technology. His career path has included the ministry, engineering and management consulting.

Guest speakers, including Tim Sandberg from Challenger Gray and Christmas, will address issues such as health insurance for the self-employed, and the industries that are generating freelance opportunities.

Saturday, September 11
1:00 - 5:00pm
Early Bird Registration by September 4: only $35
Registration after September 4: $42
