BRAZIL THROUGH
ITS ARTISTS
This exhibition, the first of its kind in China, intends to show Brazil through the artwork it has inspired. Painters of different tendencies portray the diversity of landscapes, the lush vegetation of the jungle, the vibrant coulours of tropical flowers, the urban complexes, racial mixtures, folk festivals, customs, rituals and myths of their homeland. This personal vision of the many aspects of Brazil shows influences from its European heritage, as well as elements derived from Latin American indigenous cultures and African ancestry.
In their exuberant creations which seem to surge from an impulse of the heart, we find a marvelous fusion of reality and fantasy. The poetry and unusual beauty of colours often give a dream?like quality to their production.
The artists selected for this exhibition are among the most important of Brazil. They are well?known throughout Europe, the United States and Latin America. The works of most of them have also been shown in Hong Kong, Macao, Manila, Seoul, Taipei and Tokyo.
