A barbeque at my flat to bring together web people in Bournemouth and the rest of Dorset. I may be flexible on the date if a fair few people are interested but not able to make it on a Monday. Please leave a comment if that's the case.
Hopefully, this will be a chance to discuss setting up more dorset web community events and resources - mailing lists, geek nights, dinners, workshops, co-working, etc. It will definitely be a chance to burn some meat and vegetables and have a couple of drinks with web people from dorset.
Please mark yourself as attending if you think you will, so I have a vague idea how much food to provide for. Veggies will be provided for, but if you have particularly special dietary requirements, please let me know.
Also, feel free to bring non-web spouses and partners, etc. My wife will be there, after all !
UPDATES :
1. to be clear, the idea is that if you're involved in web in some way in Dorset, you *can* just invite yourself. You don't need to know anyone who is coming already.
2. As we're starting to get more people turn up, it would be helpful (but by no means essential) if you could bring some food along as well !
Shame I can't come - i have a pre-arranged cult meet on this date but would like to take on the coastal rail challenge to get there some time assuming I was invited or even eligible as a transient dorset communist.
Tom ! You are, of course, welcome. If a few people indicate the date is bad, I'll change the date around. However, even if we don't, I'll be sure to send you email when we set some things up !
@catphish @adrianh Yes ! that's the idea ! We're trying to build the dorset web community that doesn't exist yet :) Though as the numbers get larger, it'd be nice if some of you could bring along a bit of food for the BBQ too...
Look forward to seeing you all there. Was at Dorset Digital last time and should be able to make the next event in Wareham. See you all soon. Adam
p.s. I hope the weather is slightly better than the floods we're getting today! :(
I hope those of you who are attending the BBQ this evening are looking forward to it. Just a couple of things before this evening :
1) if you're marked as attending and won't be able to make it, or if you're marked as watching and can make it, please update this, so I have an idea how many people are coming. Also, if you're bringing a partner/spouse/some other form of guests, please set your attendance to include that (or fire me an email).
2) Whilst there should be enough food for everyone, bringing along a bit of food would be helpful, particularly if you have unusual dietary requirements. We'll have a separate disposable BBQ that veggies can cook on so you don't get your food contaminated !
3) I won't be providing beer/wine/spirits etc, so please bring along your own alcohol if you'd like to drink.
4) if you're getting here by train, it's a 15 minute walk from the train station to my house - http://icanhaz.com/marknghouse has a walking map (the driving map is quite different, because of a one way street, so don't follow google map directions !) You'll need to leave the train station by the exit with the coach/bus station/taxi rank/asda, rather than the car park exit. My flat is on the corner of stokewood road and iddesleigh road - buzz for flat 4 and we'll let you in.
5) if you're getting here by car, there's a good amount of parking on the street, and you're aiming at Flat 4, 23 Stokewood Road, BH3 7NA
6) if at any point you get lost/need to talk to me, my mobile is 07828 794899, and if that doesn't work, the house number is 01202 548851.
