The 98-year old ING Bay to Breakers 12K is one of the world’s largest and oldest footraces, held annually in San Francisco, California. The name reflects the traditional course which takes tens of thousands of participants from the northeast end of the downtown area near The Embarcadero (the “bay” side of the city) to the west end of the city and the “breakers” of Ocean Beach. The 7.46 mile (12 kilometer) race features world-class athletes in addition to costumed runners and ‘fun-loving’ folks out for a great day of running and walking through San Francisco.
Participants are encouraged to show their respect and support of the race by registering for the event. Online registration is now open. Registration fees provide the infrastructure for the race, including race organization and set-up, permits, security, portable toilets, dumpsters, and post-race clean up and recycling. By registering, participants ensure that the race continues year to year.
In addition, we earmark funds from registration fees to support numerous beneficiaries in the Bay Area, including BREATHE California and the San Francisco Unified School District. Since 2003, ING Bay to Breakers 12K has donated nearly $350,000 to our beneficiaries.
Everyone is going to be in full keg and float force regardless of the rules. they post those every year and every year they say they're going to enforce it. They want to keep the spirit... and so do we. All of us will be with a keg in tow in costume. See ya there!
Ok. I've been doing the bay to breakers since 1982..I'm 61 and going to run it with my 15 yr old son. Been doing it every year. Best time 56 min. slowest and most fun 2 hrs. 20 min.
Yeah right, I'm still doing the same thing I do every year. I'll be there boozin' it up, in costume and having a crazy ass time!! Okay maybe I'll refrain from pissing in the street, but come on without booze B2B is just a bunch of people walking down the street.... what's the point? haha
