Wednesdays in July and August will be a little more melodious at Landmark Center. Musicians will play over the noon lunch hour in Anita’s Café, located on the south end of Landmark’s cortile. Anita’s offers tasty culinary delights made fresh daily. The café is already a favorite of downtown residents, workers, and visitors, and now each week it will come alive with a delightful array of sounds. The series is free and open to the public.

Wednesday, August 23 Vicky Mountain & James Allen
As a vocal/guitar duet, Ella Fitgerald and Joe Pass performed jazz standards together for over 20 years. Jazz vocalist Vicky Mountain and guitarist James Allen will perform their music, discuss these two artists’ individual styles, and explain the chemistry that made Ella and Joe’s music legendary. James Allen performs regularly with his duo playing jazz and blues, with Cuerda y Madera playing Latin jazz, with Gypsy Mania playing gypsy jazz and freelances. Vicky Mountain has been part of the Twin Cities jazz scene since 1976—singing in her own groups and as a freelance performer in concerts, clubs and clinics. From her early years in Top 40 dance bands through later cabaret shows, jazz and blues combos, big bands, and avant garde music, she remains excited by music of all styles.
