Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Vorus will speak at the Alameda Writer's Group (AWG) meeting on Saturday, May 6, 2006. Doors open at 9:45 a.m. and the meeting begins at 10 a.m. at the Glendale Central Library, 222 East Harvard St. Glendale.
Reiff and Vorus describe ?Sleeper Cell? as ?the first and only American TV program to deal head-on with the details of how the ?war on terrorism? is being waged on both sides. The title of the talk will be ?Sleeper Cell: dramatizing the ?Global War on Terror? in our own backyard.? They will discuss how they managed to get their show on the air while maintaining its integrity throughout the writing and producing process. Having met just before graduating from NYU film school, Reiff and Vorus have worked together on writing the feature films, ?Tales From the Crypt Presents: Demon-Knight,? Bulletproof Monk? and have also written, created, and co-executive produced the one-hour television drama ?Brimstone.?
Admission is free, and the library validates parking in the Good Guys parking structure at Harvard and Maryland.
The AWG presents lectures by novelists, screenwriters, agents, producers, and other industry professionals at free monthly meetings. In addition, AWG members may attend special interest groups that offer support and feedback for works-in-progress.
