New York City, New York 10012 Get Directions
Architecture for Humanity New York presents "156 Rivington," a documentary by Andrea Meller chronicling the colorful and controversial history of the Lower East Side community of artists, performers, and activists known as ABC No Rio. Described by the Austin Chronicle as an "unflinching, sometimes provocative study of the politics of space, community, and art," the film depicts original founders, neighbors and resident artists recounting their past struggles with the city and the recent gentrification of their New York neighborhood. After the screening, there will be a discussion session with members of the collective, who will field questions and discuss the success of the documentary in depicting their organization's history.
