"Growing up on a steady diet of James Brown and hip hop in South West London, Jake Wherry and Ollie Teeba have been involved in all facets of hip hop, as the main players in Ninja Tunes? explosion of hip hop jazz breaks in the early nineties. Their first album, the now classic "Remedies," was a sharp hit of hard breaks, jazz sampledelia, funk with America?s best underground MCs including Jean Grae, MF Doom and Roots Manuva.

The Herbaliser turned the world upside down forming a seven-piece funk band, to play live on the European festival circuit. The live band experience also changed the Herbaliser's mindset, as for 1999?s "Very Mercenary" they sampled their own bandmates, again redefining the hip hop mentality. The Herbaliser DJs will be in Shanghai for one special night on May 12th, in support of their new release, ?Take London?."
