Place your bid on some fantastic original art works by local expat and Chinese artists. From May 29-June7, Urbanatomy will be hosting an online silent auction. 100 per cent of the proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross Society of China to help victims of the Sichuan earthquake.
Which artists are showing?
Liu Bolin, (fabulous camouflage shots where Liu paints himself into his surroundings), Robert van der Hilst (stunning photographs of Yi Minority People taken in Sichuan), Chris Rekrutiak (groovy not-so-traditional Chinese paper cuts), Chen Hangfeng (Logomania silkscreen print, an ornamental design which riffs on China's brand obsession),Yan Changjiang (poetic black and white photography which tells a story using paper funerary dolls), Xu Peiwu (ethereal images of the Leizhou Fire Festival), Li Jun (black and white photographs which explore the concept of memory), Deng Zilong (a man floating through the dark night sky holding a pastel balloon),
Huang Ling, (two trees standing in the orange glow of twilight), Pan Jianfeng (a brooding black and white ink painting of a defeated man) Robert Davis (a collage work created especially for the earthquake)
Tang Tian (geometric abstract works in oils) and Alexandrine Dévé (a moving watercolor portrait of a mother and child ). We also have one fantastic propaganda poster made in commemoration of the Tangshan Earthquake.
