Maternal Instincts: Exploring Motherhood-Related Content in Contemporary Visual Art
Thursday May 12, 2011 at 12:30pm
Brandeis University Women's Studies Research Center
Epstein Building, MS 079, 515 South Street
Waltham, Massachusetts 02453 Get Directions
Speaker: Ronni Komarow
A slide presentation on new and innovative approaches to use of motherhood-related themes in contemporary visual art. While the past tendency has been to focus on often-romanticized visualizations of pregnancy, birth and babies, this image-intensive presentation views motherhood as a complex, life-long experience. Artwork included in this discussion reflects modern-day realities and a feminist, cross-disciplinary perspective.
