Exhibition open Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm
Closed September 1
Local artist Yoshiko Oishi-Weick expresses her profound love of nature through her Sumi-e brush. Sumi-e art has been practiced in Japan for centuries and is one of its oldest fine-art forms. Using simple black ink and brushes of various sizes, Ms. Oishi-Weick continues this ancient tradition. The art for this exhibition will be everything from expansive landscapes to simple flowers. All of the works will follow the theme of Ms. Oishi-Weick ’s art: Nature is Beautiful.
Ms. Oishi-Weick has studied Sumi-e since 1980. Her works have been displayed in galleries and exhibitions around the world, including in Tokyo, Beijing, Seoul, and Paris. She has been working as an Artist in Residence at the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington DC since 2004.
There will be an opening lecture and demonstration for Nature is Beautiful on Tuesday July 22 from 6:30 PM. The public is welcome to attend, reservations are required. RSVP to
