The Story of Place
Thursday June 23, 2011 at 7:00pm

Want to learn more about the cultural and geological history of the Mad River Valley?

Please join Center for Whole Communities in hosting Joel Glanzberg at the barn on Knoll Farm Thursday, June 23 at 7 PM.

Most ecological and social damage is caused by treating everyone and everywhere the same. Whether it is factory farms, or factory outlets, they are everywhere the same; the same architecture, the same food, the same food, the same technologies. In order to have a good relationship with someone we need to learn who and how they are, and how they work, so that we can work with them. The same is true of places and all communities. Looking at the patterns of the geology, hydrology, natural and human history of a place, we can begin to articulate a story of that place. Come hear the story of the Mad River Valley and gain an understanding of how the knowledge of our past can help plan for the future.

Joel brings a background as naturalist, Permaculture designer and educator, and green builder. The Regenesis Group of Santa Fe is working with Yestermorrow Design/Build School on a master plan that has made this presentation possible.
