Three generations of the Gonzales family from Nuevo Leon have collected charro leather work, saddles, costumes, textiles, as well as iron and silver work. The charro culture can be traced to the introduction of horses and cattle into the New World by Spanish settlers almost 500 years ago. The charreada brought together charros to compete in horse riding, cattle roping and other rodeo-like events, which eventually evolved into large community celebrations.
