Dr. Sketchy's Does Absinthe

Absinthe Meets Art Class at Dr. Sketchy's

During the 19th century, absinthe was the muse of artists- the fuel of cancan halls- the drink of Paris and New Orleans. But, for much of the 20th century, absinthe has been banned in the US.

Until now. To celebrate the recent legalization of the Green Fairy, Le Tourment Vert and Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School present a life-drawing tribute to all things absinthe.

Artists will draw internationally renowned model Delirium Tremens in a sumptuous Moulin Rouge inspired set, and compete for prizes from le Tourment Vert.

About Dr. Sketchy's: Since 2005, Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School has been New York's premier venue for avant-garde life-drawing. Instead sterile art school, at Dr. Sketchy's, artists are treated to a cocktail of burlesque models, booze, skits, mayhem and prizes.

Founded in Brooklyn two years ago by artist Molly Crabapple, Dr. Sketchy's now has 50 branches around the world, in cities including Hollywood, London, Paris, Rome, Tokyo and Melbourne. It has been covered in the LA Times, the Washington Post, Time Out New York, Time Out London, NPR, BBC Radio, The Onion AV Club, and the Associated Press. It has spawned a book, a pinup calendar, and a critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
