To celebrate the Day of the Dead live music on the night comes from Colombian Luis Garcia - bass player with the brilliant Peyoti For President with some experimental sounds mixing Cumbias with Reggae and rock. With his Latin rock fusion Carlos Paul is one of UK's most celebrated and successful Ecuadorian aritsts having released his debut album 2 years ago and with appearances at London's massive Carnaval Del Pueblo under his belt. London based Argentinian songwriter Dorian Needs draws his musical influences from Reggae, Soul and his frequent visits to Brazil (running the Rio Film School), plus passionate and political approach gives his voice a real urgency. All female group Warmi, features world class Andean musicians playing a mix of traditional songs and original compositions. And finally headlining the night Manzana Tropical whose brand of Peruvian Cumbia is at once authentic and instantly danceable.
Movimientos has celebrated Dia De Los Muertos for 4 years now at the Arts Club, always with a special shrine, which we invite people to bring contributions for and specially curated visuals, this year we dedicate the night to the spirit of revolutionary activists and cultural protagonists across Latin America. We will be donating any profits to a Peruvian charity called The Spiritual Garden of The Arts, a project aim is to rescue ancient arts, crafts and traditional medicine in native communities.
Movimientos is one of the most forward-thinking Latin nights in the capital with their DJ mix of new - and old-school Latin rhythms from salsa and cumbia to tropical bass, Brazilian, urban and electronic beats. Live music comes from a diverse selection of London based acts from the Latin, Spanish and global music scene...
