CBD/TRIPS: A 360 Review of Access and Benefit Sharing; Multilateral Developments and National Initiatives

The relationship between the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and Geneva-based organizations like the World Trade Organization and the World Intellectual Property Organization has garnered increasing scrutiny in recent years, particularly in the area of Access and Benefit Sharing. At the same time, little attention has been paid to the CBD’s substantial progress towards negotiation of a comprehensive International Regime to regulate sustainable use of genetic resources, traditional knowledge and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits from their commercialization.
