Social Media Camp
Wednesday July 30, 2008 from 10:00am - 4:00pm
Thistle Cafe
300 W. 6th St., suite 103
Austin, Texas 78701 Get Directions
SocialMediaCamp brings together the brightest minds in Social Media with people interested in learning more about the power of Community Based Marketing. It works like this - we find some of the top local names in Blogging, Podcasting, Live Streaming, and New Media and we give them the stage - BarCamp Style - to share what they know with the world.

There will be at least 2 tracks at each event. A beginner track (think Blogging 101), and an advanced track (think What is Social Capital - and Why Should I Care?).

If you’re interested in joining us - be sure and register using this handy Sign Up Form found at http://barcamp.pbwiki.com/SocialMediaCampAustin

We’re brainstorming topics for the event now - so if you have something you’d like to talk about - or if there is something you’d like someone to cover - add it to the Wiki here: http://barcamp.pbwiki.com/SocialMediaCampAustin

Who’s Invited? Everyone interested in Social Media. If you’re a Blogger, Podcaster, Community Manager, Online Marketer, Web Designer, Technologist, Facebooker, or Social Media Junkie then this event is for you.

If you’re in Marketing, PR, Advertising, Communications, or Education - or if you work with a Non-Profit - then this event is for you too!

Cost: FREE (and did we mention that lunch is included?)

If anyone is browser-blind like me, the "invite code" needed to log in on the signup page is "c4mp".

This event sounds great and I'm looking forward to it. However, why the focus on "Community Based Marketing"? Social media are so much more than marketing. Is this Social Media Camp or Social Marketing Camp?

Just wondering -- either way it's a valid topic...

Hi Riddle - either would apply - as long as the focus involves something Social ;) See you there!

Well, dang, day-to-day work interferes yet again with "lifelong learning." With all the redundant places to register for this thing I don't think I can figure out how to offer my regrets on all of them.
