The Experimental Pop Band were masterminded in the mid 90s by brilliant songwriter and engaging live performer Davey Woodward. Davey had previous success as the lead-singer of Indie/Pop band The Brilliant Corners who were a major part of the vibrant Indie music scene of the 80’s.
‘Vertigo’, the band’s new album, is electro pop at it’s best, with its catchy British/Pop melody mixing with electronic sounds and keyboard bass lines. The first single ‘Little Things’ features Boho elements with beautiful brass alongside Davey’s signature vocals and clever lyrics.
The Experimental Pop Band have, so far, had an interesting history, to say the least, from Davey accidentally knocking Nico of The Velvet Underground down a flight of stairs when he supported her band in London, to their first gig at Rough Trade in Soho, Sophie Ellis Bextor covering one of their tracks with her former band, and sessions for John Peel.
‘Jaunty krautrock lo-fi strum n bass bohemian art shot through with Davey’s bittersweet humour’ – NME
