Jamm Presents…Triangle Benefit Party
Friday January 27, 2012
at
8:00pm
This amazing event has been brought together by band Alabama 3 and Jonathan Allen, director of Jamm. A cause close to the heart of Alabama 3, they have supported the plight of this association over the last two years with band member Aurora, a volunteer at the Triangle Playground. She is one of a number of people who give up their time and are key to keeping the playground open to the local children. 100% of the income from the entrance charged on both nights will be given to the Triangle Adventure Playground Association.
On this first night, there is definitely an urban and heavy beat feel to the line up with some artists who are very familiar with Jamm in Rodney P, Congo Natty and Tenor Fly, Alabama 3, Barry Ashworth and The Thirst. We also welcome new DJ Bizness to spin a bass heavy set for the cause and none other than MZ Bratt, a talented young lady from London who has collaborated with many of the cream of the urban scene and with 2012 looking like a year in which her talents will become widely known, we are very happy for her involvement in this event on all levels. With many of the artists listed coming from the area or London, it just highlights how important playgrounds such as this are to local communities and the young people it helps.
Opened in 1957, the Triangle Adventure Playground is the oldest playground of its kind in London and a fully functioning playground costs £111,784 per annum to run. Open Monday to Friday, during term time and holidays, the playground caters for children up to 18 years old and the adventure playground is central to the activities it provides, with the cabins offering creative arts-based activities and space for social 'hanging out'. With this the only permanent young peoples organisation working in an area increasingly notorious for knife and gun crime, this is a valuable and safe haven for many young people and away from the streets and with the recent riots an example, never has this been so important.
Never has there been a more enjoyable way to do some good in the community. Having the chance to witness some of London and the UK's most celebrated artists and knowing that you are supporting a London based charitable association that does so much good for those around you and working towards a better future for some many young people is really something for everyone involved to be proud of.
Get involved.
