Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center hosts second annual
Encanto Flamenco Festival

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center (GCAC) will host the 2nd annual Encanto Flamenco Dance Festival July 30 – August 3, 2008 at the Guadalupe Theater in San Antonio, Texas. Workshops, a panel discussion, lecture demonstration and public performances are all included in the line-up of Festival activities. Visiting guest artists include Omayra Amaya, grand-niece of the legendary Carmen Amaya and Joaquin Encinias of the National Conservatory of Flamenco Dance in Albuquerque, NM.
The GCAC is committed to offering the best of flamenco dance and culture through the Encanto Flamenco Festival. The hope is that this festival will help bridge the gap between emerging dancers, local performers and world renowned choreographers by making quality flamenco dance instruction accessible for dancers, musicians and dance lovers alike.

Schedule of Festival events and performances:
• Dance workshop with visiting artists Wednesday, July 30 - Sunday, August 3.
• A public performance featuring local artists will be held at the Guadalupe Theater on Wednesday, July 30 at 7:30 p.m. Suggested donation $5.
• The public is invited to attend a Community Platica held at the Guadalupe Theater on Thursday, July 31 at 7:30 p.m. Suggested donation $5.
• A lecture demonstration featuring Omayra Amaya will be held on Friday, August 1 at 10:00 a.m. at the Guadalupe Theater. Reservations must be made to secure admission. Call 210.271.3151 ext. 41
• Joaquin Encinias will perform with members of the Yjastros Dance Company of Albuquerque on Saturday, August 2 at 8:00 p.m. at the Guadalupe Theater. Tickets are $20, $25 & $30.
• The Omayra Amaya Dance Company will close the festival with a public performance on Sunday, August 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the Guadalupe Theater. Tickets are $20, $25 & $30.
