COMMON GROUND FOR A LIVABLE WASHINGTON
Innovations in agriculture and energy
How do we realize our promise?
Brown Paper Tickets

Peace and livable community are rooted in the sustainable and fair use of land, labor, and natural resources. How do we unite around the work of many organizations and individuals to restore more functional relationships with the physical world, within communities and in civic and political relationships? How do we recognize our common aspirations across regional and political divides so that we can reassert regional, state and community authority in a world dominated by increasingly powerful and centralized economic interests?

Jim Hightower, former Texas Agriculture Commissioner, national radio commentator, and firebrand populist, kicks off the Back to the Roots series of Institute for Washington's Future. Hightower tells us that the real political division in this country is not left to right -- but top to bottom.
