Ash Wednesday at St. Mary Immaculate
Wednesday February 22, 2012 at 8:00pm
St. Mary Immaculate Parish
15629 S. Rt. 59
Plainfield, Illinois 60544 Get Directions
Ash Wednesday, February 22nd, is the first of 40 days of Lent, the day on which ashes are placed on the forehead in the shape of a cross. Ashes serve a dual purpose. First, we are reminded of our mortality and humanity as we begin the Lenten season. Second, the ashes symbolize repentance, sorrow, and humility.

St. Mary Immaculate Parish in Plainfield will distribute ashes after Masses in English at 7:30 am, 8:45 am, and noon in the parish Church. From 1:00 pm to 6:30 pm, ashes will be distributed in the Church by Parish Deacons.

Benediction will follow at 6:30 pm in the Church. Evening Masses, followed by Ash distribution, are also scheduled in English at 7:00 pm in the Church, in Spanish at 7:00 pm in the Parish Gym and in Polish at 7:30 pm in Cana Hall.

St. Mary Immaculate Parish is located at 15629 South Rt. 59 in Plainfield. For more information call 815-436-2651 or visit www.smip.org.
