BalKanKan – a night of madness with live music, DJs gypsy dancers!
Bringing you the best of Gypsies from the Mediterranean with a strong Balkan flavour. Expect the balls and the brass from the Balkans, surf-rock Mediterranean guitar lines, Arabic & Jewish melodies, massive bass-lines and a whole heap of electronics, scratching and beats.
This month is a special BalkanSKA version – real Balkan Gypsy gem of a party, make sure the feet are appropriately dressed and expect anything from brass to gypsy ska and punk! It’s not for the fainthearted – check with your doctor before stepping onto the dance floor!

Wordly Savages (live)

Worldly Savages is an international gypsy punk project started in 2008 in Belgrade, Serbia by Slavic-German-Canadian traveller Erik Mut as a studio project. The band then grew in 2009 & 2010 in Toronto, Canada, becoming a live act and touring all over Europe in 2010. In late 2011 Erik moved the band to London and established a new line-up, which will play the UK all winter and tour Europe in April. Come and release your inner beast

Drunken Balordi (live)
From wild gypsy house parties in snowy Ukraine suburbs, to club nights and the bright lights on Manhattan, NYC, Drunken Balordi’s music has over the last three years taken them to some of the most exiting musical hubs in the world.
The band present an exiting fusion of traditional Gypsy and punk/rock beat driven music with a contemporary attitude and never fail to provide an incredible performance and leave their crowd “…covered in sweat with a smile on (their) face.” – Avenue B
With members originating from Ireland, England, Italy, South Africa & New Zealand and backgrounds in classical, traditional folk, indie, electro and punk music, they provide an eclectic mix of styles and an original genre crossing sound.
Having played festivals all over Europe (incl Glastonbury, Bestival, Rockness, Rebellion, Kumpania, EHZ) and having supported such names as Shane McGowan & The Popes, Neville Staples, Kultur Shock, Balkan Beat Box, Goran Bregovic, The Stranglers and Alabama3, Drunken Balordi appeals to many crowds of different tastes and are set to release the follow-up to their self titled debut album in the spring of 2012.

DJ Gypsy Viking
An international DJ who plays Balkan Beats, Gypsy Punk & Traditional Eastern European music, with over 70 gigs in more than 13 countries under his belt! Behind the madness is a man from Toronto, Erik Mot, of Slavic & German mixed blood and heritage traveling Europe for the last 10 years on a journey of self-discovery and self-liberation. His journey lead him to live in Belgrade, Serbia, where he found an authentic culture of people who shared many of his most cherished values about life. He also found a great appreciation for their folk music which became an influence for his Gypsy Punk band Worldly Savages. He’s the brain behind official Gogol Bordello afterparties and Wild East parties in Toronto, and played at the afterparties for the IRAF in Romania (2010 & 2011).

The original Balkan girl – she’s beating the house out of the Balkans together with Gypsy ska and the best Balkan beats that will make your hearts race and beg for more. She’s played at after parties for Boban & Marko Markovic, Fanfare Ciocarlia, Shantel & the Bucovina Orkestar, supported Orkestra del Sol, had guest appearances at Rumpus and Balkan Sonik.
