Headliner:
FAITH SFX (UK) Bio:
The art of using vocals to produce or emulate percussive sounds and
sound effects, is one of the central performance elements in the hip hop
culture. When the art-form became part of the budding culture, in the
early 1980s, it was called Beatboxing, or Human Beatboxing, as much of
the goal was to mimic the first generation of drum machines, commonly
known as beat boxes. This performance art and musical wonder has since
been developed, refined and redefined. One of the people at the very
forefront of this movement of sound is Faith SFX,
and rest assured, if you had not heard of him before, you will be
listening to him in the future.
A native of the NW5 of London, Faith SFX started his rise to stardom in 2003, and
quickly became a household name in the UK, due to his wide array of
sounds, and his willingness to make music that was unique in the Beatbox
world, and in a general sense. One of the many things that set him
apart from his peers is that his musical inspiration was not drawn
predominantly from hip hop, but from the emerging Garage/Grime scene in
the UK, and that he really has no limitation on what musical genre or
sound he can emulate. He is also one of very few people in the world who
have taken Beatboxing from a street-art and live performance setting,
and successfully made the transfer into a studio recording artist,
making entire songs using vocal sounds only, covering the entire gamut
from percussion, through bass, instruments and singing vocals.
As a testament to true skill and versatility, Faith SFX has a multitude of notable collaborations,
ranging from the UK underground and far into the mainstream realms of
popular culture. To name a few: Professor Green, Paloma Faith, etc. He
has done a variety of shows, ranging from performances on live radio,
tours in both America and Australia, supporting artists such as Bruno
Mars, Jenelle Monae, Plan B, performing on the main stage at the
Glastonbury festival as well as at many other festivals (T in the Park, V
Festival, Oxegen, etc), performing in club concepts and on party
islands like Ibiza and Magaluf, and he has successfully warmed crowds to
a boiling point for megastars, such as Ludracris, and Jay-Z. He has
even done advertisements, for Motorola and more recently a Christmas
advert for Argos, both of which were loved by audiences.
His performances have drawn attention and praise from the likes of
DJ Kool Herc and even Sir Elton John, and his popularity as a music
producer is growing at an extreme pace, in the wake of releasing a
mix-tape and a full length album in 2011. The mix-tape, dubbed All From
The Mouth, was released to celebrate a his new website
(www.faithsfx.tv), as well as give people a taste of what was to come
with regards to his full length album. All From The Mouth, was as
described, all from the mouth, with Faith SFX
providing every sound on every instrumental, producing the majority of
the tracks himself, and teaming up with well known UK producers for the
rest. It also featured a great cast of UK emcees, and really raised
expectations for his full length album Man Or Machine.
Man Or Machine was released in 2011, and it features perhaps the
most prolific all star cast of UK emcees ever assembled on an album. It
is yet again a production based solely on Faith SFX´s
vocal artistry, also with several notable names among his co-producers,
and it truly takes Beatboxing to a whole new realm. As most great
beatboxers, Faith does live performances, where he blends drums and
harmonic instrument sounds, sound effects, and does that at a level that
few mortals can come close to. However, he has also been determined to
take Beatboxing to the next level, and his recent releases All From The
Mouth and the album Man Or Machine, are proof positive that he is every
bit as great as a studio recording artist and producer.
Faith SFX is, in spite of his resume and
the superlatives people use to describe his music and live performances,
just getting started. His passion for Beatboxing is as great as ever,
and his willingness to wander unchartered territory, will likely take
the man, or machine, to new heights. As his moniker may suggest, he is
someone who will stay true to his art, and continue to develop and
perfect it, and though his accomplishments are of grand proportions and
others describe him in bold-lettered superlatives, the man behind the
microphone is still one who considers humility and hard work the recipe
for a legacy.”

(STARTER 22.30!)
WINDOW FALLERS:
Kanskje burde man ha hørt plata for fullt
begynte å lage låter under navnet Alien Breed.
slo best an hos publikum. Kapabels soloplate EP 1999/2000
debutalbumet Pisspreik i 2003.
2007 kom oppfølgeren Varsko her!”
ESSAY:
“Essay is in no way unknown for those with a ear to the street in
Norway. The up-and-comer has opened for artists like Flo Rida and Adam
Tensta, and collaborated with some of Norway’s most experienced artists,
like Soda and Roll X Side.
The album is recorded at the in-house studio of the rapper him self.
With unknown, but skillfull guest vocalists and producers, Essay show
that he not only delivers quality – he recognizes it in others as well.
- In this project I mainly intended to make it a showcase of my skills
as a lyricist. I’ve borrowed beats and really focused on just getting my
name out there, Essay explains. He can also tell us about his intuitive
writing process, where everything comes naturally – and ends up in the
bin if he can’t write the whole verse in one go. – It has to come
naturally, if not, I scrap it, he says.
Upbeat rap has really gained momentum in Norway in the later years,
fronted by young rappers. Now it finally seems that the middle region of
the small country can say they too have a representative within the
genre. The region will appreciate the upcoming of an artist that
delivers both in the booth and behind the mic. With catchy refrains and a
natural, pulsating flow Essay is a name for the future.
VRANGSITT TRANSITT:
hundrings!
