Bay Area singer, songwriter and guitarist Owen Roberts and San Diego's beer brewing lap steel wizard Greg Peters formed Shady Maples in 2010 after touring California as a duo. The band's dynamic sound is soulful and gritty with hard hits and bone shivering melodies. Influenced by artists from Iron and Wine to Radiohead, Ben Harper, Fabrizio De Andre and Sam Cooke, their music does not sit comfortably in any one genre but bends between rock, americana, folk and latin.

Shady Maples recorded their debut full length album at Fantasy Records in Berkeley and will release it in early 2012. The record will be a hand crafted collection of songs Roberts and Peters have written and arranged over the past two years.

Drummer Trent Boeschen (John Craigie) and bassist Dennis Haneda (The Courtney Janes) with Brooklyn Bill Bell on keys and mandolin create the full band experience, and Kelly McFarling sings the sweet harmony.

Since Owen and Greg began collaborating the band has played a sold out show at SF's Cafe Du Nord, toured California a half dozen times hitting venues such as the Belly Up in Solana Beach, the House of Blues in LA, Soho in Santa Barbara, and Yoshi's SF, opened for the Mother Hips, surfed Swamis, Blacks Beach, Jalama, Gaviota, Ocean Beach, and raised two dogs.
