Patrick Gregory and Steve Quiram: Songbirds & Waterfowl

The Merwin & Wakeley Galleries will host the work of two extraordinary woodcarvers local to McLean County. The artists, Patrick Gregory and Steve Quiram, both use wood and nature as starting points but explore the material and subject matter in very different styles. Patrick Gregory is an award winning decoy carver. He carves both duck and fish decoys but specializes in ducks. Pat has a long standing history of decoy carving in his family. His great grandfather George Barto was a famous Illinois River decoy carver. Steve Quiram focuses on capturing the realistic movement, form, and colors of birds and wildlife. These small intimate portrayals of the larger natural world bring into focus a sense of delicacy and wonder frozen in time.
