Friday August 15, 2008 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Market Street Gallery
1554 Market Street
San Francisco, California 94102
Category: Performing/Visual Arts
Market Street Gallery is proud to present an exhibition of paintings by artists Holly Boruck and Tim Svenonius that offers the viewer an opportunity to reflect on just what a precarious state we currently find ourselves.

The major themes of Boruck's work refer to the human condition, reflecting her feelings and thoughts on such topics as war, poverty, rampant consumerism, pollution, depletion of natural resources and the precarious relationship we have to nature and to each other.

Svenonius' work also deals with our current condition and draws inferences from civilizations and empires past that have faced strikingly similar turning points. His work invites us to consider the age-old question: Are those who do not learn from history doomed to repeat it?

From August 2nd through 30th. Market Street will participate in the Hayes Valley art walk, an informal evening stroll every third Fridays between participating neighborhood galleries. Reception with the artists will take place from 6pm to 8pm.

Free.
