100 Migrations by Bill T. Jones/ Arnie Zane Dance Company
Saturday May 9, 2009
Yerba Buena Gardens
4th and Howard Streets
San Francisco Bay Area, California Get Directions
Mark your calendar for the rare opportunity to experience the artistic process of a world-renowned choreographer, with an outdoor performance on a grand scale: an unprecedented, one-day-only event in Yerba Buena Gardens featuring 100 Bay Area performers. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Bill T. Jones / Arnie Zane Dance Company, Jones embarks on his most ambitious project yet: A Good Man, a dance theater work based on the life of Abraham Lincoln, set to make its Bay Area debut at YBCA in 09_10. Jones, whose iconic choreography and unflinching social provocation has earned him a prominent place in contemporary art, asks, “Had Lincoln completed the Reconstruction, what would America be like today?” To develop the work, Jones will conduct workshops nationwide, including here in the Bay Area. The culmination of his work in San Francisco is this extraordinary outdoor site-specific performance. Unpredictable. Risky. 100 Migrations is the quintessential YBCA “Life Amplified” event.
