Trent Reznor began Nine Inch Nails in 1988, modelling his industrial sound around influences by Skinny Puppy and Ministry. He signed to TVT Records and issued the acclaimed 1989 full-length 'Pretty Hate Machine.' Over the years, the sound of Nine Inch Nails has crossed across metal, techno, progressive and other edgy musical landscapes, but has always centered on Reznor's creative direction to reach his massive fanbase.
