The Washington Youth Choir hosts fall auditions for students ages 13 to 19 on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 from 4:00-6:00 pm and Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, located at 733 8th Street, NW in Chinatown/Gallery Place area (convenient to all metro lines). The Washington Youth Choir is a free after school program whose mission is to enhance the educational experience of DC-area youth through the rigorous study and performance of music and facilitates their transition out of high school. The fall session will begin on Monday, September 8, 2008 and run for 15 weeks. Interested students must commit to two rehearsals a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 733 8th Street, NW. WYC will hold an additional optional enrichment day on Thursdays from 4:00-6:00 pm.

Auditions will run 10 to 15 minutes and will evaluate each student’s level of musicianship and vocal capabilities through the evaluation of sight reading, rhythmic, and tonal readings.
