About US Department of Peace and Nonviolence Campaign -
Hi Everyone -

I'm the South Florida - State Coordinator for the 'US Department of Peace and Nonviolence Campaign' supported by the Peace Alliance. The Peace Alliance is an organization advocating the passage of (HR 808). This bill requests the creation of a US Department of Peace and Nonviolence that supports peace operations in our own country. We work to foster positive, proactive change toward the creation of a more nonviolent and peaceful world. The Peace Alliance wants to reduce the climbing rate of violence and work to resolve conflicts by helping pass this non-partisan bill in Congress (HR 808). This bill was reintroduced to Congress in February 2007 and was quickly co-sponsored by 62 House of Representatives.

Consider joining your local State group to request your local Representative to co-sponsor this bill. Once passed it would lead to a new department which would be headed by a cabinet-level secretary who advises the President on non-combat options and would study cutting-edge ways to wage non-violenceinstead of violence. A 'Department of Peace and Nonviolence' would help bring clarity to the current chaos and be a much needed balance to the War Department. The issues of Gang Violence, Domestic Violence, Child Abuse and Prison Rehabilitation would all be the dominating issues that need to be addressed as priorities.

We have volunteers active in almost all states!! If you're interested in joining, contact me on here or at www.MySpace.com/DepartmentofPeaceFlorida
