TiE-The Indus Entrepreneurs - founded in Silicon Valley in 1992 by successful entrepreneurs and professionals with roots in the Indus region. TiE is also known as Talent Ideas and Enterprise is a global non-profit network dedicated to the advancement of entrepreneurship. Spread over 48 chapters in 11 countries, it has over 12,000 Members and 1,600 plus Charter Members - includes top Entrepreneurs, VCs, Private Equity, Angels, Law Firms, Tech & Management professionals.

TiE's mission is to foster entrepreneurship globally through mentoring, networking, and educating.

TiE's Portland chapter was launched in October, 2007, with a launch event that featured C.K Prahalad, Paul & Ruth McCracken Distinguished University Professor of Corporate Strategy at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, a globally recognized business consultant, as a Keynote speaker. C.K Prahalad, a member of the Board of Trustees of TiE, spoke on Serving the 6 Billion - the underlying theme to TiE Oregon. He gave a motivating speech about - "The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid" - a simple but revolutionary idea that has won him much acclaim. It centers around the proposition that the world's poor can be the engine of the next round of global trade and prosperity and can be a source of innovation. By developing products and services designed to help the poorest of the poor entrepreneurs can hope to tap into a new world of opportunity. He quoted several examples of products that target the world's poorest where the return on financial investment was no worse than that of products targeted for the developed world.

TiE Oregon has organised several events since it's launch with a special emphasis on Sustainability and Serving the Six Billion.
