Hi everyone!

Just a little background on me and why I started this group:

I've been interested in freediving for about 5 years now, but havent had much luck finding people with similar interests. One of the hurdles is that freediving tends to be looked down upon by SCUBA divers, who make up the vast majority of the overall diving community. The other hurdle is that I'm not really that interested in spearfishing, alot of the diving groups in the Bay Area seem to be exclusively focused on spearfishing. I dont have anything against spearfishing, I'm just not extremely interesed. I'd like to try it at least once, but it's not a burning desire.

My interest is in recreational and competitive freediving. I love diving, and I want to explore my limits. I may not get to the level where I'll be able to compete with anyone, but I'll always be trying to improve myself in this field.

I hope some people join and we can get off to a good start. I chose upcoming.com, because I've tried meetup.com but didnt find it worth the monthly fee.
