New Structure to Snowflake Village!

This will be Snowflake's eighth year, making it one of the oldest & most stable Villages on the Playa. Maybe because we keep it simple... A confederation of Midwest, Canadian, and other far-traveling Theme Camps with no village fees; a simple setup; a good location; the advantages of better security and social interactions.

Whatever the size of your camp, from megalopolis down to a teeny kissing-booth, we can do our best to accommodate you. We give you frontage according to the size of your display or Theme Camp, and camping space behind according to your population.

There are three main places we can locate your camp: on the Esplanade, on the next street out, or fully inside the Village (no frontage). If you are brand-new to Snowflake, contact the off-site Coordinator, Eric G, at eric@clevian.com and tell us your idea first...

Esplanade camps

Being on the Esplanade is definitely the Big Time. Burning Man requires certain things from a camp on the Esplanade... so we will want some serious interactivity from you:

* Be fully lit and open each night during peak hours 8-12... Ideally, more than that.
* Have some kind of 24/7 interactivity
* Have representatives on-Playa by Monday, setting up.
* Be set up quite early in the week.
* We need to have a common visual theme that unifies the Village. Usually that is X-mas lights strung across the whole interactive front of the Village. We need your help to build and maintain that system. At night our Village should be lit with an arc of lights like a big glowing smile-- not like a smile with one tooth knocked out-- with a camp strangely dark and empty.

"A" Street camps

The next street-- the "A" street-- is less demanding of interaction but it is still mapped and reserved space! ...., not for "just camping" It is a great place for a tea house, yoga camp, sculpture garden, or other thing that is only open sometimes. We still need some interactivity from you:

* Have some activities open to the public and interactive.
* Help maintain our back perimeter-- with some kind of rope-fence, caution tape, or structures along your frontage. We do not like people riding their bikes through the Village at 3am and crashing into our tents!
* Like everybody else, have a cleanup plan to Leave No Trace.

Internal Camps.

Some camps have their main art located somewhere else, like out on the Playa. Some people come from far away, like Europe or Japan. And there are always newbies, and small groups of 1-2 people. We have an Overflow Area where you can be inside our glorious Village with no frontage. But we still need your help!

* Help the other camps! While we are all working like dogs setting up giant domes and stuff, bring us water! Fetch our duct tape! Bring us a cookie!
* Clean up.

OK. Are you ready to do it? To make the crazy journey, to participate, to be part of the most amazing place on earth? To change your life forever? Need more info before you post? Write to the Coordinator Eric G at eric@clevian.com FYI - The deadline for registration is May 31.
