Using Upcoming.org with your calendar program

At ORG, we're trialling upcoming.org as a potential way to run a collaborative shared calendar.

There are two ways of updating the calendar - the first is simply to sign up on the site, and join the group. From there you're free to add events to group.

If you'd rather not go through the process of signing up with Yahoo, you can see upcoming events at http://upcoming.yahoo.com/group/3107/; to add events email the details to upcoming@openrights.org (this involves someone else cutting and pasting the data into upcoming.org, so please don't expect instant feedback on the site.)

You can also subscribe to the group calendar in your calendar application in the following ways:

Using Google Calendar:

1. Under "Calendars" in the left column, click on the "+" button next to "Other Calendars".
2. Go to the "Public Calendar Address" tab.
3. Enter the following calendar address (webcal://upcoming.yahoo.com/calendar/v2/group/3107/df021c0323) in the field provided then click on "Add".

Using iCal:

1) From the menu bar, select Calendar > Subscribe
2) Enter the following address when the "subscribe to" dialogue appears: webcal://upcoming.yahoo.com/calendar/v2/group/3107/df021c0323

Using Thunderbird + Lightning (or Sunbird I assume):

1) In Calendar mode, select File > New > Calendar
2) Select calendar type "iCalendar (ICS)"
3) Enter the same calendar address as above, and click "Next"
4) Enter a nickname and choose a colour, and click "Next", then "Finish"
