Some inital thoughts

Hi Folks!
OK - sorry about the delay from the initial conception of this idea to getting around to doing anything about it. Life - both work and the other one - have kind of got in the way. Oh to have a occupationally balanced lifestyle..!
So some initial thoughts on this meet-up

1. London seems like a good place (being the capital and all that). However I realise I have no idea where the rest of you are from - so if you all live in Scotland then that would make sense! I think a rotating venue may work well if this goes any further but for now if anyone can suggest something better then suggest away!

2. Time wise - well thats all depending. I was originally planning this as a evening thing. Its often the way in the geek world of doing these things in a pub somewhere - however, as I note above, I realise OT's generally have busy lives. So the best alternative would be a afternoon/late afternoon (e.g 3pm onwards). Does that sound possible? I realise some of you may have to travel some distance and may not easily be able to get time off work but having the group adjourn to a pub may make sense..

3. Things to discuss. Well I intend to keep this pretty informal. Im not even going to suggest the word agenda. From my angle:
- Introductions - who everyone is and what's everybody's interests.
- An overview of the current situation of the web from an OT perspective. What's out there, what fun stuff is being done and the potentials for it all. Adding to this - what some of these terms mean that are being banded around like no tomorrow - web 2.0 and all the like. Notably blogging and social networking tools.
- Adding to this I intend to bring along some of the thoughts of Merrolee Penmans group and a summary of their web 2.0 group in New Zealand.
- A breakdown of some of the "yet to be released!" OT related web projects that are on my hitlist (I would be really keen to get some feedback if nothing else - Im wary that I can go off on one at times).

Really thats probably about as formal as an agenda will get - I can ramble on for a hour or so and then we can just meet and say hello to each other in person. The reasons for a meet-up are numerous but for this initial meeting Im keen to see who is out there and share some of the "Web 2.0 Love"!

Return a comment either directly to me or via this site and I will then get on and advertise the time & place further afield.

All the best

HI Will
This sounds like a great first step... I'm curious where everyone is coming from.... I'm wondering if you can make it as an evening meeting, then I could try linking in the rest of us? I understand about the time issue though so will wait to see what the group consensus is... I think we're about 11 hours ahead at the moment?
