I'm psyched to find this group---I'm in OC right now but moving to West Hollywood on August 20. My book RailsSpace: Building a Social Networking Website with Ruby on Rails just got published; check out http://RailsSpace.com/ for more information. My main gig these days involves rewriting the Caltech Alumni website in Rails. I'm also looking to start a company some time in the next six months or so.

Very cool - we are working on a project that will leverage some social networking stuff so I will probably add your book to our library - very excited to have you join the group!

Here's the RoR app I'm building for an organization I belong to. It started out as a web app for our local group but I quickly realized it could easily be extended to the 75 or so groups nationwide.

Nothing fancy (and the color scheme should look familiar to anyone who's done the "Depot" app in the PragProg Rails book, which just happens to be the color scheme of the organization):

I'm definitely a newbie still but am impressed with Rails. Looking forward to trading ideas and learning.
