Akiba Fest presents their new Springtime annual concert event: Pop the Rock Japan Music Showcase (PTRJMS), to debut on April 4, 2009 at the University of Maryland’s Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center and featuring J-music Sensations, Psychic Lover, Unicorn Table, Sister Mayo (Project.R), Takayoshi Tanimoto (Project.R), and Special guest, Shing02 with DJ Icewater.

Past Akiba Fest events have been very successful, generally attracting hundreds of attendees to pack local Northern, Virginia concert clubs and generating some of the largest crowds for an upstart Japanese music event in the U.S. Mid-Atlantic Region. Now with a new larger venue, PTRJMS is Akiba Fest’s fourth show since 2006 and will be a night time feature of the Washington D.C.’s National Cherry blossom Festival and will feature their performing acts early in the day April 4th at the Sakura Matsuri-Japan Street Festival’s J-pop Land stage to meet fans and sign merchandise before the PTRJMS main event at 5:00PM held just a short metro ride away at the University of Maryland.

PTRJMS is intended to welcome all types of Japanese pop music entertainers while exposing wider American audiences to the Japanese pop music experience. PTRJMS events will feature Japanese artists who sing Rock, Pop, Anime and Gaming themes, and even Hip Hop and R&B. In addition to concerts there will also be giveaways, vendors, entertainer signings and other related entertainment.

In its debut show PTRJMS welcomes such Japanese pop music icons like Psychic Lover, Unicorn Table, Sister Mayo (Project.R), Takayoshi Tanimoto (Project.R), and Special Guest, Japanese Hip Hop artist Shing02 with DJ Icewater. The show will also feature the local talents of DJ ASU and Super Art Fight
