Just wondering if anyone remembers the old clubs where Los Angeles' original punk rock bands first played en route to fame or obscurity.

I remember reading the L.A. Times Calendar section every Sunday morning to get the week's schedule for the clubs which appeared in the form of small ads in the pop music section. Places like Madame Wong's, Hong Kong Cafe, etc.

My favorite was the Starwood.
