Liverpool photographers fabcollective met on Flickr. In January 2009 they had a physical meetup in order to stage an exhibition of their photographs. That exhibition was was called Up to something.
Now they're opening their second major exhibition at St Luke's Church in Liverpool, England. The exhibition is called Having a do. Fab photographer Mark Maloney explains the theme:
“This exhibition looks at how people celebrate life through the events that they go to. Throughout the year we get invited to all sorts of different events including birthday parties, retirement dos, funerals, christenings, weddings, new year, religious and cultural festivals etc.
At each one the setting, the mood and the colours change and people dress differently according to each occasion. Each event generates different emotions and feelings. We thought it would be interesting – and fun – to capture these in our photos.”
The exhibition opens on 31st July and runs through to the 29th August. Opening times are 12 -4pm Thursday through Sunday.
The venue, St Lukes, was hit by an incendiary device during WWII and was gutted by the ensuing fire. Though structurally sound, it has no roof, so bring an umbrella if its raining and a picnic if its nice.
