Sigur Rós

I picked up the new album Takk yesterday, and it is no disappointment. The band's composition skills continue to improve, and they're not wandering off into obscurity for the sake of obscurity. Takk has a happier, lighter tone than (), and I'm enjoying it a lot.

This show looks like the most-marked music event in Boston/Upcoming.org history (46 people so far), so I'm curious to hear your impressions of the show.

The show at the Opera House was AWESOME! The venue itself is absolutely beautiful and I think Sigur Ros' music was a perfect fit. I don't understand the language of the lyrics, but their music was both touching (i.e. tears runnind down the cheeks) and elevating (i.e. felt like hovering). Besides, who else plays guitar with a cello bow???

Thanks, Zenith! I saw them in 2003 at Avalon, and I can well imagine that the Opera House would be a far better venue.

As kottke pointed out, there are quite a few photos on Flickr with the sigurros tag:

Other bands known to me who use bowed guitar include Godspeed You Black Emperor! and (at times) Mogwai.
