Nerdy API News!

We've released a beta PHP5 API Wrapper, as well as responded to some API requests. Read on for details.

In preparation for Yahoo!'s Open Hack Day, we wanted to get a couple of oft-requested API gifts into the hands of our talented Upcoming.org API Developer community.

First off, here's our New PHP5-compatible API Wrapper. It's a pretty early release, so i've put up a wiki page detailing how to get started with the PHP5 API Wrapper. My wrapper beta testers tell me that although there are some issues they had to figure out with the example code, the class itself is generally working for them. If you have feedback, please post a note in the talk page for the wrapper.

We also are introducing of the new state.getInfo and country.getInfo methods, available by popular demand. Also, the method has been modified to accept the new "show" parameter, allowing you to retrieve a user's watchlist history, upcoming events, or the watchlist across all time. This should fix the limitations that were preventing some developers from fetching a complete user history from the API.

For those of you who would like to attend, i'll be at the Open Hack Day, doing a quick presentation about Upcoming.org Event Hacks using the API at 4:15pm (Full schedule at the YUI blog). Our fearless leader, Andy Baio, will also be doing a presentation at 10:00am that looks at why certain online communities tend to go offline.

Oh, and one more thing! We're still on the lookout for a great developer, so look at our job posting news entry for more details.

As always, we hope you enjoy the improvements, and look for us at Yahoo Open Hack Day!

Thank you very much, I did a first update to the flickr greasemonkey to use the new methods and parameters.

Great job (and thank you for linking to the script).

mortimer, I love the GM extension, but now that it lists all my past events... would it make more sense to do that reverse chronologically w/ the default select on the most recently past event or something?

lhl, yes, you are right.

right now, I just show the events in the order returned by the API, but I should change that... and add some filtering features (if there is a date taken on the photo, we can shorten the list easily). I'll let you know when the next version is ready.
