RSVPs and Guestlists for Event Organizers

Organizing an event? We just added some new RSVP and guestlist options, like letting attendees bring guests, closing the guestlist, and printable guestlists for the day of your event!

We've been seeing some excellent events posted on Upcoming lately, and have
been looking for simple ways to improve by just watching the ways people are
using our site. We noticed some people creatively using
comments for RSVPs and guestlists lately (e.g. "me + 2!"), so we decided to make it official.

Now, if you post a self-promotional event and check a box that says you're
the organizer, we'll give you some new magical powers! We'll give you the control
to allow your attendees to bring guests, limit the number of guests they can
bring, and limit the total overall capacity of your event. In addition,
we'll let you close the Guestlist at any time before your event, and create a
printer-friendly copy to take with you. That should help clear up any
confusion because of last-minute attendees, and also make it simpler for you
to promote and run your events on Upcoming.

why is selfpromotion a required field when editing events? other than that, we like. well done.

This is nice but still has the same problems as now normal events: I do not usually add events because once I did I "have" it and cannot get rid of it.

I am responsible for changing and everything which makes me not add events in the first place. As said before it would be reasonable to hand over events like a workflow. This way I enter events but once the organizer comes in, they can 'take over' the event and then also use the new RSVP feature.

Is there a provision here for doing virtual events?
Posted 1 year ago
Virtual events are not typically the easiest thing to reconcile on a shared calendar, and we don't officially have a way to post them. They also have a tendency to look + act spammy, as their posters typically throw them in a ton of metros. We're open to hearing ideas though, as plenty of people have offered their suggestions on our wiki. :)
