Upcoming Integrated in Yahoo! Search

We've had a busy couple of months recently. With our noses to the grindstone, first we streamlined our search results, making it even easier to find local events on Upcoming. Then we refined Yahoo! Search with our local events, featuring your favorites on Upcoming nationwide:

As you can see, our most popular events come directly from your watchlists. So what of our recent changes? Try searching for "events" in your home town and tell us what you think!

Yeah, that means that we get to subvert the mainstream Yahoo audience by exposing them to indie rock, geek conferences, and pillow fight flash mobs. Kick ass.

Hmm. Undecided.

I'm glad that Upcoming's starting to get integrated into Yahoo! more; but how often do you search for 'events in mytown'. Maybe 'mytown gigs', 'comedy in mytown' or 'myfavouriteband concerts' - but I don't think I've ever thought to search for 'events' in my town - the terminology is very generic.

Also, would I be right in saying it only works with major US cities, at the minute?

Sorry to criticise; I know you're hard at work doing loads of cool stuff, but I just wanted to throw in my two cents.

It should work with any US city or ZIP code. Also, it works for some queries without a location passed in. If you just search for "events" or "event" by itself, for example, you should see local events based on your stored location. The other queries you mentioned -- comedy, gigs, etc -- are all in the pipeline. :)
