The Universal Hip Hop Parade and bushbaby proudly present Spoken Word: The Lost Element of Hip Hop. An Open Mic / Showcase

Performances are from 7 PM to 10 PM.



This is an open call for performers of poetry, spoken word, song and music. Independent and underground hip hop artists also welcome.

The parade, an annual non-profit educational and cultural event is always held on the Saturday before the anniversary of Marcus Garvey's August 17th birthday. Marcus Garvey used culture as a tool to empower people and encouraged the growth of Black institutions.

So come to the historic Black neighborhood of Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn on Saturday, August 15th 2009 and celebrate this legendary freedom fighter's birthday by participating in and watching the 10th Annual Universal Hip-Hop Parade.
