Quick, clever, spontaneous, confident

The fotomarathon is a photo competition under extreme circumstances. In 12 hours, starting at midday, participants try to illustrate 24 themes creatively. Artistic aspects -the idea as well as the photograph- stay in the foreground. The challenge is to create a consistent 24 photo series and to keep having good ideas until the end of the marathon. One detail is important: for every theme there is only one photo available -every decision counts.

The photos should all follow one general theme, and are to be taken in the order as they are given. In past years, the themes have benn "Water", "Here I am a person", "Playing with Numbers" and "The dream of flying". The individual themes are somewhat ambiguous and they then set the participants' abilities to interpret them to the test.

The award ceremony takes place three weeks after the Fotomarathon, and what is really special is that the series of all participants are exhibited.

Der Fotomarathon ist ein Fotowettbewerb unter verschärften Bedingungen. Es gilt, in zwölf Stunden 24 Themen kreativ umzusetzen. Der künstlerische Aspekt - die Idee und das Fotografieren - steht im Vordergrund. Es kommt darauf an, eine stimmige Serie zu entwickeln und bis zum Schluss gute Ideen zu haben.

Die in chronologischer Reihenfolge umzusetzenden 24 Themen sind einem Rahmenthema zugeordnet. In den vergangenen Jahren waren das z.B. "Wasser", "Hier bin ich Mensch", "Nummer schieben" oder "Der Traum vom Fliegen". Die Einzel-Themen sind vieldeutig und stellen die Interpretationsfähigkeit der TeilnehmerInnen auf die Probe. Das Rahmenthema sollte als zusätzliche Inspiration aufgefasst werden.

Die Siegerehrung findet drei Wochen nach dem Fotomarathon, im Rahmen einer Ausstellung statt. Alle Serien werden ein Wochenende lang ausgestellt.
